‘We, who are many, are One body
because we all share in One bread’
St Paul, 1st letter to the Corinthians 10:17
The Orthodox Church in the UK is found in a number of ‘jurisdictions’.
Each of these arose as a result of the immigration of differing ethnic groups from countries where Orthodoxy was the national church (like the Church of England/Scotland/Wales in the UK).
These jurisdictions are thus still identified under the name of original immigrating ethnicity and are in various stages of integration with UK society and culture.
Despite these cultural and linguistic differences, however, the churches are still all One and in full communion with each other, often sharing resources and clergy.
